Prepare a BMW for winter in Yerevan: battery, tires, and fluids

Winter in Yerevan does not last as long as in the north, but the first mornings below zero are enough to expose a tired battery, summer tires, and coolant that has not been changed for years. A short visit before that week is cheaper than a no-start on the street.

Battery and charging

BMW batteries are registered to the car. A replacement that is only bolted in, without coding, can overcharge or undercharge and shorten the life of the new battery. We test the battery under load and check the charging voltage before recommending a replacement.

Tires, coolant, and visibility

• Tread and the date code: summer tires harden and lose grip in the cold
• Coolant concentration, so the engine and the heater core are protected
• Washer fluid that will not freeze in the reservoir overnight
• Front and rear lights, including the fog lights used on wet mountain roads
